Toy To The World Project Raising Funds for HIV R&D

PencilNeck Productions is the brains behind the awesome TOY TO THE WORLD PROJECT, a biennial custom DIY toy competition that brings together up to 200 artists to unleash their creativity on 200 blank vinyl bears in order to create an exhibition and auction event that raises money to combat HIV through research and development!

The project consists of two events:

1. The Design Day where the public can knock down a beer to a phat mix of DJ tunes while they watch painters, designers and graff artists take to the blank toy canvas' with markers, spray cans, cutters and glue, they can even join in if they're feeling creative. 
2. The opening of Melbourne's premiere GLBTi cultural event, Midsumma, TOY TO THE WORLD exhibits and auctions off the creations of these talented artists, raising funds to help bring some joy into the world by contributing to furthering HIV research and treatment development.

Launching in 2010/11 the project raising $2000 for the Victorian AIDS Council in Melbourne, Australia, and in 2012/13 this totally rad project doubled that with $4024. Mike Mitchell exhibits himself at the Mondo Gallery

Last Friday Mike Mitchell opened his new exhibition at the Mondo Gallery in Texas. 

Running from April 26 to May 25, his new show features thirty-ish portraits of pop culture from Tarantino to Beetlejuice, Ash to Driver and The Joker and The Bride just to name a few.

Creamy, The Door is Always Open to 3DRetro and Gary Baseman

3DRetro and Gary Baseman have collaborated to bring Creamy the sad but somewhat cute vinyl character which has been created for 'The Door is Always Open' exhibit. 

The show explores the influences of Baseman’s Jewish family heritage and American popular culture on his exuberant, boundary-defying art at The Skirball.

The Toby inspired colorway of Creamy is now available for pre-order at the Cultural Centres online store.

Fox McFloyd custom by Chauskoskis for FONZO Loves UK

Get a load of Fox McFloyd by Chauskoskis, for the "FONZO Loves UK" Custom show. Fun fact is that Fox Mc Floyd is a huge Pink Floyd fan with the obvious flying pig & t-shirt plus guitar and amp (see video below).

Mighty Jaxx shows Clogtwo's skuhl!

Mighty Jaxx shown (on their Facebook page) their larger than life prototype 'skuhl', designed by the talented Clogtwo for the first time for the Machine Mouth show.

This amazing 'skuhl' will be released in Matt Black, with a limited edition of 30 pieces worldwide. We'll keep you posted when this happens.

Gary Ham has a New Toytem to Exhibit

Artist Gary Ham has a new 'Toytem' that he's been working on and it has finally
been revealed and it's pretty cool. 

This Toytem is a one off piece which has been cel-vinyl painted on a wood base that Gary made from scratch spacifically for an upcoming show, "The Triplets of Clutterville" exhibition.  The exhibition is of new works by Chris Squink, Loz Hausofboz, and Gary Ham, which is at Clutter Gallery, May 11.

3rd Annual Dream In Plastic Custom Toy Show Starts June 8

Dream In Plastic is gearing up to hold it's third annual Custom Toy Show, running from June 8 to July 12.

"Toy artists have creative license to create any creature they desire. We encourage YOU to try your hand designing your own toy from a blank figure such as MUNNY, Qee, etc. However, you can really create a toy from anything you like. Cut up other toys and melt them together, sew your toy a little jumpsuit, take apart your VCR and use the pieces - whatever. Multiple toy submissions are welcome." - Dream In Plastic

This show is open to anyone and any toy platform, so for any artist looking to their work featured in a  gallery show, download the Dream In Plastic submission PDF form here. But be quick as the final deadline for submissions is June 6.
